Ayurveda Wednesday: What is Ayurveda?
Happy Ayurveda Wednesday! In this new weekly series we’ll be sharing Ayurvedic wellness practices and tips to incorporate into your daily life!
But for this first post, we just wanted to share WHAT exactly Ayurveda is!
Ayurveda is the ancient Indian “Science of Life” which was developed alongside Yoga thousands of years ago! It’s all about finding optimal health and balance in body, mind, and spirit. Ayurvedic medicine focuses on preventing health problems and healing the whole body, not just the symptoms or surface-level of a problem. While there’s much to study, a basic understanding of the underlying principles of Ayurveda can help us so much! It’s based on a system of 3 “doshas” or biological “types” which are a little bit similar to Myers Briggs or Enneagram types, except the doshas include your physical characteristics as well!
If you’re in Flagstaff, I’m teaching a Yoga and Ayurveda Workshop at Yoga Revolution Flagstaff this Saturday at 1:30! In this workshop, you’ll be able to discover your dominant dosha and what that means for your life! Then we’ll do a dosha-balancing Vinyasa Flow class. Here is the link for advance tickets — $25 in advance, $30 day of!
